PILGRIM READING

Hi there pilgrims.

I acquired several new books about walking/hiking and pilgrimage. All small books and worth a read.

They are

  1. In Praise of Paths: Walking Through Time and Nature; Tolbjorn Ekelund

  2. The Art of Mindful Walking: Meditations on the Path ; Adam Ford

  3. Meditations on the Trail: A Guidebook for Self-discovery; Christopher Ives.

The Ekelund book is very nostalgic, recalling his trail time as a boy on the fjords of Norway. The Ford book is similar with reflections on great walks all over England and Australia. Great insights into the aboriginal view of walking and nature in Australia. The Ives book is a companion to another book he wrote connecting walking and Zen. This is by far the more practical, with lots of examples of what to do to stay mindful while walking. I recommend them all.

All under $25 and available through Amazon.
